New Orleans, La. - The Central Methodist Track & Field coaching staff earned regional recognition from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Head Coach Kenny Anderson was named the South Central Regional Women's Outdoor Coach of the Year, while Assistant Coach Kailey Johnson was recognized as the South Central Regional Women's Outdoor Assistant Coach of the Year.
For Coach Anderson, it marks his eighth regional coach of the year honor across both indoor and outdoor seasons for both men and women.
Anderson led Central its third Heart Outdoor Championship in the last four seasons and its seventh conference championship—indoor or outdoor—over the past six years. With the victory, the Eagles secured their second consecutive sweep of the Heart indoor and outdoor team title.
The women scored 237 points and won eight events. Central Methodist were consistently ranked No. 2 nationally and had six events rated No. 1 in the national Event Squad Rankings.
Johnson helped coach CMU athletes to 108 points, including two individual titles, towards Central's team crown at the Heart Outdoor Conference Championships. Her athletes were ranked No. 1 in two events (heptathlon and high jump) in the national Event Squad Rankings.
