Olathe, Kan. - The No. 16 Central Methodist volleyball program fell in a tightly contested match to Heart leader MidAmerica Nazarene University in four sets Tuesday night in Olathe, Kan. 

Central now stands at 15-7 and 8-6 in conference, while the Pioneers push their record to a perfect 20-0 and 13-0 in the Heart. 

The Eagles dropped the first two sets 26-24 and 25-23, before bouncing back with a 25-20 victory in set three. Central trailed in the fourth set by as many as seven points, before tying the match at 21-21. 

It was wire to wire for the final few points as both sides were knotted at 24-24. However, the Pioneers picked up back-to-back kills to hold of Central's push for a fifth set, earning a 26-24 set four victory. 

Callie Henson finished the evening with 16 kills, five digs and four blocks. Delaney Miller and Sydney Healy chipped in seven kills apiece while Miller led the defense with five total blocks. 

Gabi Owczarek dished out a team-high 21 assists paired with eight digs along with a service ace. Fellow setter Marina Alonso added 17 assists, five digs and two service aces. 

Krystal Brauner recorded 25 digs, while Shea Luby added 14. In addition, Luby tallied two service aces and two blocks. 

The match was a defensive battle as both teams were held to less than .150 hitting on the evening. Central concluded the match with 18 total team blocks compared to 14 for the Pioneers. 

CMU continues its October road tour with a trip to Benedictine College to face the Ravens this Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Atchison, Kan. The Eagles won the earlier matchup in Fayette in straight sets back on Sept. 17.
