KANSAS CITY - Central Methodist's Cris Renteria, Tyler Meierarend and Brett Davis have qualified for the 58th Annual NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship, as the entire 32-team team field and individual qualifiers were announced by the national office Monday. All three runners are making their first appearance on the national stage.
Renteria won the Heart of America Athletic Conference title last Saturday in a time of 27:05.06. Meierarend and Davis finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Meierarend posted a time of 27:38.02, while Davis recorded a finish of 27:56.25.
Defending national runner-up No. 1 Southern Oregon and defending national champion No. 3 St. Francis (Ill.) headline the 32-team men's field made up of 21 conference, independent and unaffiliated grouping champions; one conference, independent, and unaffiliated grouping runner-up and ten at-large selections.
Beyond the 32-team field, 97 individualsrepresenting 64 institutionswill also compete at the National Championship on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kan. The men's 8-kilometer race will begin at 10:30 a.m. CT.
