KANSAS CITY - Central Methodist juniors Brett Davis and Tyler Meierarend are headed back to Rim Rock Farm, as the field is set for the 59th annual NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 11:45 a.m. CT. Thirty-six teams and 76 individuals will compete for the team and individual national titles in an 8k race in Lawrence, Kan., the national office announced.
Davis and Meierarend are making their second-straight appearance on the national stage.
Davis led the Eagles' finishers across the line at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship last Saturday, placing second overall in the 8k race in a time of 25:52.86. Meierarend was fourth after crossing the finish line in 26:00.40.
With the National Championship being held at Rim Rock Farm for the first time last season, Meierarend placed 207th overall, while Davis was 211th. Meierarend posted a time of 26:44.64. Davis finished in 26:47.08.
The field is comprised of 22 conference, association of independent institutions and unaffiliated grouping champions; a host bid [Friends (Kan.)]; and 13 at-large selections. Additionally, 76 individuals will also compete at the National Championship.
