Eagles place fourth at Maple Leaf Invite

Baldwin City, Kan. - The Central Methodist men's cross country team finished in fourth place at the Maple Leaf Invitational in Baldwin City, Kansas Saturday morning. 

The 8k race, which took place at the Baldwin Golf course, featured 46 runners from five teams including Baker, CMU, Evangel, Park, and Peru State. 

Exavier Coburn nearly cracked the Top-20, finishing in 21st place with a time of 30:00.56, followed closely behind Jacob Sanders, who ran a time of 30:38.1 for a 23rd place finish. Zy'Shonne Cowans was the third Eagle to cross the finish line, running in a time of 30:58.82. Tyler PerkinsJack SchiffhauerCorwin Gentry, and Elliott Reed rounded out the final four runners for CMU, finishing in 29th, 31st, 32nd and 34th respectively. 

Jackson Caldwell of Baker University took home the individual title on the men's side, posting a final time of 25:42.53. The Wildcats claimed the team championship with 19 points and four of the top five runners. 

The Eagles will next compete in the Benedictine Cross Country Challenge hosted by Benedictine College on Friday, Oct. 23 at 10:15 a.m. in Atchison, Kansas.
