Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Track and Field program nearly swept the Heart Indoor postseason awards, which were announced by the conference office Monday.
Senior middle distance runner Dayana Montenegro took home the Women's Athlete of the meet award at the Heart Indoor Championships.
Head Coach Kenny Anderson was named the Heart Women's Indoor Coach of the Year, while Assistant Coach Kailey Johnson was tabbed as the Heart Women's Indoor Co-Assistant Coach of the Year.
Montenegro, who was the highest point scorer of the Heart Championships, tallied 30.5 points after winning the 400m (56.16) and the 600m (1:33.43) races and finishing second in the women's 200m (25.09).
She also helped lead the CMU 4x400m relay to a first-place finish (3:51.32). She is now a three-time Heart Indoor Conference Champion in the 600, set the new program record in the 400, and was part of the relay team that set a new conference record in those respective races.
Anderson was named the Heart Indoor Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his CMU career (2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025). This comes on the heels of Anderson leading the women to their third Heart Indoor Conference Championship in the last four years this weekend.
Under Coach Anderson, Central scored 209 total points and garnered gold medals in six individual events.
The 209 points scored were 47 points better than second place Benedictine and are the most for the program during their last three championship runs.
Johnson is in her first year as an assistant coach with CMU after concluding her track and field career with the Eagles in 2024. Johnson also serves as the Director of Operations for the program while also coaching the sprints, hurdles and combined events.
