Quincy, Ill. - The Central Methodist STUNT team opened its 2026 season with a strong showing at the Quincy Kickoff Tournament over the weekend.
The Eagles split a pair of matches highlighted by a dominant shutout victory and a hard-fought triple-overtime thriller on Friday. CMU then shut out familiar foe Buena Vista, 8-0 Saturday Friday morning.
Central began Friday competition in commanding fashion, sweeping St. Norbert 10–0 to earn its first win of the season. The Eagles controlled the match from start to finish, executing clean routines and applying consistent pressure across all quarters to secure the decisive victory.
In the second contest of the day, Central Methodist battled host Quincy in one of the most competitive matches of the tournament. The teams traded points throughout regulation, forcing overtime after a deadlock at the end of four quarters.
The contest extended into three overtime periods before Quincy edged out a narrow 20–19 decision.
CMU responded Saturday morning with an 8-0 shut out of Buena Vista, closing the weekend with a 2-1 record.
The Eagles come home to host their second-ever tournament inside Puckett Field House Feb. 21-22. Central will host Drury, Maryville, and Missouri Valley College.
