Wichita, Kan. - The (RV) Central Methodist women's wrestling opened the 2021-22 season with a trip to Wichita, Kan. to complete in the Falcon Invite hosted by Friends University Saturday morning. 

Freshman grappler Lilly Gough highlighted the event for the Eagles, as the Jay, Okla. native rattled off three consecutive wins in the 136-pound bracket, with two coming via technical fall.

She fell in the semifinal match against Lexi Basham of Texas Wesleyan, but bounced back with a win in the consolation semifinal match. Gough would go on to compete in the 3rd place match, ultimately falling and finishing the day with a fourth place finish. 

Fellow freshman Sabrina King posted a sixth place finish in the 130-pound bracket, winning four of the six matches she competed in. Shianne Whited also placed sixth in the 170-pound weight class, winning five matches including four of the five via fall.

Andrea Montoya (143) and Gigi Loza (123) also competed in their respective brackets, ultimately falling short of spots on the podiums after falling in the knock out rounds. 

The Eagles will partake in their first conference dual of the season when they travel to Des Moines, Iowa to face Grand View University Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 5:00 p.m.
