Baldwin City, Kan. — The Central Methodist women's wrestling team delivered a strong showing Saturday at the Jimmy May Open in Baldwin City, Kan. 

The tournament was hosted by fellow Heart member Baker University 

Central was highlighted by a third-place finish from Christina Page and a fifth-place effort by Sierra Alamilla, while several Eagles recorded multiple victories throughout the day.

Page led the way at 207 pounds with a third-place finish. She opened the tournament with a first-round fall before dropping a quarterfinal matchup. Page responded with an impressive run through the consolation bracket, earning two decision victories to build momentum before securing a 10-0 technical fall in the consolation semifinals. She capped her day with an injury default win in the third-place bout, finishing the tournament with five total victories.

Alamilla battled her way to a fifth-place finish in the 124 pound bracket. After receiving a first-round bye, Alamilla recorded a dominant 14-2 technical fall in the second round and followed with a pin in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals. After falling into the consolation side, she regrouped and closed her tournament with a decisive 10-0 technical fall in the fifth-place match. 

Emily Neumann put together a resilient performance at 138 pounds, tallying four wins on the day. Following an early split in championship action, Neumann strung together three consecutive victories in the consolation rounds. She earned a 5-2 decision before adding back-to-back falls to highlight a strong finish to her tournament.

At 145 pounds, Eve Herlyn rebounded from an opening-round setback with three straight falls in the wrestlebacks. Herlyn recorded pins in 1:05, 1:14 and 2:47, showcasing her ability to control matches and finish strong as she totaled three wins.

Elsewhere in the lineup, several Eagles recorded multiple victories. Camilla Delgado opened her day at 117 pounds with a technical fall and a first-period pin. Ashlan Thompson secured a fall and an 8-2 decision at 131 pounds, while Tye Rozell added two falls in the same weight class. Emmy Begemann also collected a pair of pins at 131 pounds. At 145 pounds, Mina Himmel earned two decision victories in consolation action. Paris Kelleher recorded a technical fall and a pin at 160 pounds, and Grace Timmons added two falls in the 180-pound bracket.

Central will turn its attention to the postseason, beginning with the Heart of America Conference Championships Saturday, Feb. 28 on the campus of William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
