KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the team and individual qualifiers for the 2012 NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championships on Monday.
Central Methodist University earned an automatic berth after capturing its second straight Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship.
The 33rd Annual Women's event will take place at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash. on Nov. 17. The women's 5K run will start at 12:30 p.m. CST.
Cal State San Marcos will be looking to capture its four-straight women's cross country national title. After finishing second in 2010 and third in 2011, Eastern Oregon's senior Karlee Coffey looks to continue her top-five finishes in the National Championships with a wide open field.
The 32-team women's field features 22 conference/independent/unaffiliated group champions, two conference/independent/unaffiliated group runner-ups and seven at-large selections. Concordia (Ore.) received a host berth for the event. There are also 109 individual qualifiers.
The awards ceremony for the NAIA National Cross Country Championships has been added to the web streaming schedule for the first time. After the team and individual champions are crowned at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, the awards ceremony will be streamed live at approximately 4:30 p.m. CST on Nov. 17.
