Canton, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Cross Country program opened its season with a third-place finish at the Great River Open Friday evening.
The field featured five other programs from the area, including host Culver-Stockton, CMU, Hannibal-LaGrange, Missouri Valley, and Mount Mercy. Altogether, 25 runners ran in the women's race.
Central saw two of its runners finish in the Top 10 of the 4K, led by junior Lili-Rose Breheret, who crossed the line in a time of 15:06.48 to finish sixth.
Ali Gutierrez placed eighth with a time of 15:30.16, followed by Sadie Burchett (11th - 16:08.48), Aliyaha Heron (18th - 17:02.33), Tanaja Bledsoe (20th - 17:44.94), and Ava Wilson (24th - 20:01.23).
CMU will next compete in the Larry Young Invitational on Friday, Sept. 12, at 5:30 p.m. in Columbia, Mo.
