Fans are encouraged appear in the cafeteria on Tuesday to send off the seven-member team, HAAC cross country Coach of the Year Chris Sandefur and director of track and field/cross country Mark Nelson, as all nine people depart for the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash.
Central Methodist earned its second-straight automatic berth in the 33rd Annual NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championship after capturing its second consecutive HAAC title.�
Tabatha Dickey, Amber Beaverson and Taylor Beaverson will lead the Eagles into action in their final collegiate race. Dickey, a local product from Fayette, finished second on the team in last year's 5K national championship race in 20:24. Amber Beaverson crossed the finish line in 2011 in 21:12. Taylor Beaverson recorded a time of 22:08, as the Moberly, Mo. natives have paced the Green and Black throughout the 2012 campaign.
Juniors Elise Schreiber and Adriana Romero, along with sophomore Hailey Breusch, also return to Vancouver for a second-straight season. Schreiber, who hails from Jefferson City, Mo., finished third on the team in the 2011 title race in 20:50. A Redwood City, Calif. native, Romero was fourth for the Eagles last season with a time of 21:11. Breusch, from Moberly, tallied a finishing time of 21:44 last year.
On Nov. 17, Emily Nealley makes her national championship debut for Central Methodist. The freshman from Gravois Mills, Mo. placed 12th in the HAAC championship meet in a time of 19:23.70.
The 33rd annual NAIA National Championship will take place Saturday, Nov. 17. The women's 5K run will start at 12:30 p.m. CST.
