VANCOUVER, Wash. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that Central Methodist University's Tabatha Dickey, Elise Schreiber and Sarah Tucker are among 317 women's cross country student-athletes that have been named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Dickey and Schreiber will both run for the two-time Heart of America Athletic Conference team champion participating in the 33rd Annual NAIA National Championship on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CST.
Dickey, a senior and local product from Fayette, Mo., finished second on the team in last year's 5K national championship race in 20:24. Schreiber, a junior who hails from Jefferson City, Mo., finished third on the team in the 2011 title race in 20:50. Tucker, a junior from Macon, Mo., has been sidelined this season due to injury.
Spring Arbor (Mich.) leads all institutions with 12 individuals on the list.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
