LAWRENCE, Kan. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that Central Methodist's Kaitlyn Loeffler and Elise Schreiber among 295 women's cross country student-athletes that have been named 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Schreiber earns the honor for a second straight season.
Loeffler, a junior from Olathe, Kan., is in her first season competing with the women's cross country team after starring for the Eagles' track and field squad in 2011 and 2012.
Schreiber, a senior who hails from Jefferson City, Mo., finished fourth on the team and 15th overall at the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Championship on November 9 in a time of 20:40.50. She was named to the All-HAAC honorable mention team.
Spring Arbor (Mich.) leads all institutions with 10 individuals on the list.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
