FAYETTE, Mo. - Allyson Ng and Megan Greener finished second and fourth overall, respectively, leading Central Methodist to a second-place finish in the season-opening Eagle Invitational on Saturday morning at Fayette Golf Club. The Green and Black totaled 31 points in the 5k race, seven behind Westminster (Mo.).�

"I was proud of how our athletes competed with the extremely hot and humid conditions both today and over the course of these last two weeks of hard practice with lots of miles," Eagles' coach Mark Nelson said.

Ng crossed the finish line in 21:41.67. Greener's finish came in a time of 22:17.07.

The Eagles' Veronica Hancock and Shannon Feurt placed eighth and ninth overall. Rachel Howieson was 11th overall. Cheyenne Randle, Nikki Warren, Bayley Greiner and Alexandra Scavuzzo claimed spots 13 through 16 to round out the Eagle finishers.

Westminster's Shannon McCaul won the race with a time of 21:32.23.

Central Methodist's next event will come on Sept. 13 in the Mule Run in Warrensburg, Mo.
