Fulton, Mo. — The Central Methodist Men's Golf program competed Monday at the William Woods Spring Invitational, hosted by William Woods University at Tanglewood Golf Course.
The event was shortened to 18 holes after Tuesday's final round was canceled due to inclement weather.
The Eagles' A team posted a team score of 319 in the lone completed round, finishing 11th in a competitive field. Mount Mercy University (292) placed second overall behind tournament host William Woods' B team, which led the field with a 289.
Leading the way for CMU was Cylas Worley, who fired an impressive round of 71 to tie for fifth individually among more than 90 competitors. Worley's round highlighted a strong showing near the top of the leaderboard, finishing just three shots off medalist Spencer Worley of William Woods, who carded a 68.
Rocco Amoia followed with an 80, while Zane Downey added an 82. Brock Jenkins rounded out the scoring for the Eagles with an 86, and Atticus Brandes posted an 88.
Central Methodist's B team finished 14th with a score of 334. Keenan James paced the squad with a 77, while Peyton Taylor recorded an 84. Brayden Loftin (85), Evan Fleetwood (88), and Travis Allen (97) completed the team scoring.
Despite the weather-shortened format, the event provided valuable competition as the Eagles continue their spring season against a deep NAIA field that included programs such as Columbia College (Missouri), Missouri Valley College, and Bethany College (Kansas).
Central Methodist will next compete at the William Penn Spring Invitational, Wednesday, April 8 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
