Central Methodist continued its impressive turnaround under first-year head coach James Arnold this week and Gathercole was a major part of a 2-0 week. A native of Springfield, Mo., Gathercole averaged 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists while connecting on 73.7 percent of her field goal attempts, including 7-of-8 three-pointers.
The Eagles proved to be road warriors as they won both games away from home last week with Gathercole scoring 20 points and grabbing 4 rebounds in each contest. She hit 7-of-10 shots and both of her 3-point shots in a 73-63 win over Evangel, then drained 5-of-6 three-pointers and 7-of-9 overall to engineer an 80-68 victory over No. 20-ranked MidAmerica Nazarene.
Gathercole will represent the conference in the running for the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week award, which will be released no later than Tuesday afternoon.
