St. Louis, Mo. – The Central Methodist women's basketball team earned its second consecutive road victory with a convincing 58–44 win over Missouri Baptist on Wednesday evening.
With the win, the Eagles improved to 11–7 overall and 6–4 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play, while the Spartans dropped to 5–11 overall and 4–6 in league action.
Central set the tone early, limiting Missouri Baptist to just three points in the opening quarter and carrying that momentum into the second. The Eagles went into halftime with a 31–21 advantage.
Both teams traded baskets in the third quarter, scoring 14 points apiece, but CMU pulled away down the stretch to secure the 14-point road win.
Freshman Tayla Robinson led the Eagles with 15 points while also contributing five rebounds and five assists. Johnson County transfer Maizen Williams followed with 14 points and three steals, and Asnate Gerke added three steals of her own.
Junior Kaelyn Johnson paced the team on the glass with six rebounds and chipped in nine points.
Turnovers proved to be a key difference, as Central forced 18 on the Spartans while committing just seven.
Central returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 17, when the Eagles host Peru State inside Puckett Field House at 2:00 p.m. for the annual Hall of Fame Game.
