Fayette, Mo. – The Central Methodist Women's Basketball team put on a show in front of the home crowd Saturday afternoon, powering past Peru State 78–68 during the annual Hall of Fame Game inside Puckett Field House.
With the win, the Eagles extend their winning streak to four straight and improve to 12–7 overall and 7–4 in Heart of America play, while the Bobcats slip to 10–8 and 7–4 in conference action.
Central's offense was firing on all cylinders, showcasing balanced scoring and strong ball movement throughout the contest.
The Eagles shot an impressive 53.4 percent from the field and were deadly from long range, knocking down 45.8 percent from beyond the arc compared to Peru State's 17.6 percent.
Senior Trishelle Porter caught fire off the bench, fueling the Eagles' victory with a career-best 26 points and a career-high eight triples on 13 attempts from long range.
Porter's eight threes were just two shy of tying the single-game program record of 10, which was set in 2013 by newly inducted Hairston Hall of Famer, Morgan Vetter Grosse.
Junior Kaelyn Johnson followed with 16 points on an efficient six-of-11 shooting night and led the team on the glass with seven rebounds.
Truman State transfer, Kaitlyn Patke, filled the stat sheet with 12 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals, while Johnson County transfer Maizen Williams added 11 points, five rebounds, and three steals to round out a strong team effort.
The Eagles return to Puckett Field House on Wednesday, Jan. 21, when they host the Baker Wildcats in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
