Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Basketball team fell at home to Culver-Stockton, 66-45, Wednesday evening inside Puckett Field House.
Central now stands at 15-10 and 10-7 in the Heart of America, while Culver-Stockton improves to 17-8 and 11-6 in conference action.
The Wildcats set the tone early, outscoring the Eagles 18-7 in the opening quarter. Central responded with a strong second frame, putting up 18 points while holding Culver-Stockton to just nine.
Tayla Robinson sparked the run with a three-pointer, and Asnate Gerke added four layups to help trim the deficit to just two points heading into halftime.
Culver-Stockton regained control in the second half with an efficient offensive performance, while Central Methodist struggled to regain momentum and close the gap.
Gerke led the Eagles with 12 points and narrowly missed a double-double, adding nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Junior Kaelyn Johnson contributed 10 points, six rebounds, three blocks, and two steals, while fellow junior Maizen Williams added eight points, four rebounds, and four steals.
As a team, Central shot 32.7 percent from the field and 25 percent from three-point range but forced Culver-Stockton into 15 turnovers.
The Eagles return to action Saturday, Feb. 14, when they host Grand View University at Puckett Field House. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
