BELLEVILLE, Ill. - Kyra Williams scored a career-high 23 points for No. 20 Central Methodist on Monday, but the Eagles lost to Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) 80-61 in Lynx Arena.
Williams also led the team with five assists and two blocks to go along with seven rebounds, but Central Methodist (19-8) dropped its third-straight game.
Shelby Kohrman scored a team-high 17 for Lindenwood-Belleville (20-9), as five Lynx' players registered double figures in scoring. Diamond Burt recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Stephanie Cathcart scored 14 points for the Lynx. Taylor James and Kirstie Owen had 13 and 12, respectively.
Taylor Cornelison tallied 10 points for the Eagles. Sammie Jo Copeland notched seven points and four rebounds. Jesse Ellis pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
Lindenwood-Belleville turned a two point lead at the 16:17 mark into an 11-point edge just under six minutes later with a 16-7 run. A Paige Laird conventional three-point play made the score 24-13.
Central Methodist answered with a quick 9-0 spurt, cutting the deficit to two points following a Chelsea Pannier trey, but the Lynx closed the half on a 16-5 run and led 40-27 at the break.
The Eagles got within single digits, 40-31, at the 17:06 mark after a Pannier bucket in the paint but would get no closer. Lindenwood-Belleville led by double digits the rest of the way and by as many as 21 twice in the final 1:34.
Central Methodist shot 43.6 percent (24-of-55) from the field.
The Eagles return to conference action Thursday against Graceland (Iowa) for the final time during the regular season inside Puckett Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. CT.
