Caravella inks with CMU for 2014-15

Caravella inks with CMU for 2014-15
FAYETTE, Mo. - Jacquelyn Caravella, a 6'2 forward, has signed to play for the Central Methodist women's basketball team for the 2014-15 season, coach James Arnold announced. The Brick, N.J., native will have two seasons of eligibility for the Eagles.

"Jackie is going to be a force in our league," Arnold said. "It's obvious what she can do for us as a low-post presence and rebounder, but we really love her game because she can stretch the floor."

Caravella attends Ocean County College (N.J.). As a sophomore, she averaged a double-double at 11.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, helping guide the Vikings to a 2013 Region XIX Championship. The team advanced to the 2013 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III National Championship. She was a first team All-Region selection.

Caravella played her freshman year at Acadia University in Wolfville, Canada, where she averaged two points and two rebounds per game on the team that won the Atlantic University Sports Conference Championship. She helped Acadia to a Canadian Interuniversity Sport National Tournament berth.

At Brick Memorial High School, Caravella averaged 14.3 points and 11.4 rebounds as a senior, was named the school's Top Female Athlete and ranked 31st in the MSG Varsity Top 100 as a senior. As a junior, she averaged 14.1 points and 12.2 rebounds per contest. A two-time captain, Caravella led the Shore Conference in rebounding her final two seasons. For her efforts, she was twice named All-Conference and All-County.

In addition to basketball, Caravella played soccer in high school and was named All-County, All-Division and All-Conference, helping her team to the Central Jersey Group IV Championship.

"In high school and college, she has proven she can hit the outside jumper to the arc and beyond, and when you add that to our returning group of post players, that group could be very, very good next year," Arnold stated. "She is a special player because she can play strong and powerful but is also light on her feet, athletic, and has great touch. She is a big get for us."

Caravella joins Cassidy Cotton in the 2014 Signing Class.
