FAYETTE, Mo. - No. 12 MidAmerica Nazarene made 10 3-pointers Saturday inside Puckett Field House, leading to a 74-40 win over Central Methodist in Heart of America Athletic Conference action. The Pioneers snap the Eagles' two-game win streak.
Five MidAmerica Nazarene (22-5, 15-1) players scored in double figures to secure its 10th-straight victory. Megan Balcom and Ellie Dietz each drained four three-point shots to lead the way for the Pioneers with 14 points. Jasmine Webb added 12 points and four rebounds, while Daria Sprew and Bailey Rinehart chipped in with 10 points apiece. The Pioneers scored 24 of its points off of 29 forced turnovers, while also claiming a 22-4 edge in fast break points.
MidAmerica Nazarene went without a field goal for the opening 3:15 before Balcom hit bookend treys for a 14-1 lead at the 14:01 mark. The Pioneers took a 14-point lead into intermission and never led by fewer than 15 points in the second half while holding Central Methodist (14-12, 5-11) without a field goal for the final 11:25.
Taylor Cornelison led the way for the Eagles with 10 points and five rebounds. Morgan Vetter and Sammie Jo Copeland tossed in seven points each. Copeland and Allison Hines each pulled down four rebounds. Chelsea Pannier had four steals, while Cornelison and Jesse Ellis came up with two apiece.
Central Methodist travels to Graceland (Iowa) on Thursday, Feb. 26. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. CT.
