The CMU Eagles (20-8, 16-8) notched their 20th win of the season and swept the season series with Mid-America Nazarene today in Olathe KS, posting a 77-59 victory. This win also puts CMU ahead of MNU for the 3rd spot in the HEART standings, with two game remaining in the regular season.
A trio of ladies led the way, with most of the damage occurring from the 3 pt. arc. Lexie Moe (SO/St. Peters, Mo.) (16 pts., 2 of 5 from 3-pt range), DeJonee Hale (23 pts, 4 of 9 from 3-pt range), and Sophie Thompson (FR/Troy, Ill.) (13 pts, 3 of 6 from 3-pt range) all had big days. Paige Albrecht (SR/Yakima, Wash.) had a monster day on the boards, pulling down 15 rebounds, with 13 of them coming from the defensive side.
The Eagles used big 2nd and 3rd quarters to take the win, outscoring their opponent by 18 over those two periods. Coach Davis was proud of his team's effort, "We played very well today, winning the battle on the boards by 12. We won the floor burn battle as well! We have worked extremely in practice and it is showing in our level of play."
The Eagles will close the regular season this week, hosting Culver-Stockton Wednesday before hosting Evangel University Saturday for Senior Day. The ball tips at 5:30pm Wednesday, and 2:00pm Saturday.
