FAYETTE, Mo. – Senior guard Mercedes Jefflo (SR/Compton, Calif.) dropped 33 points on Wednesday night as she guided the No. 8-ranked Central Methodist University women's basketball team over No. 21 Clarke University, snapping a six-game winning streak for the Pride.
Jefflo's total doubled that of any other scorer on the evening. She also added seven assists, five steals, three rebounds, two blocks, and boasted a 13-for-14 showing from the free throw line en route to the victory.
Central sealed the win with a 26-11 first quarter, as the remaining three frames featured just a two point separation. The Eagles jumped out to a 19 point lead in the opening segment while holding the Pride without a basket through the first seven minutes of play. The squad, which led from start to finish, opened up a 26-point lead midway through the second quarter and entered the intermission with a 47-31 advantage.
