McElroy recognized as Heart Player of the Week for the second time

Kansas City, Mo. - For the second time this season, Central Methodist women's basketball senior guard Arleighshya McElroy was named the Heart Women's Basketball Player of the Week. She was also recognized by the conference office back on Nov. 8.

The senior from Dallas, Texas averaged 35.5 points/game this past week, highlighted by a 43-point performance against Missouri Valley College on Dec. 11. The 43 points scored are the most by a player in a single game since DaJonee Hale dropped 50 against Grand View back on March 3, 2018.

Overall against the Vikings, McElroy converted six-of-18 three-point baskets and knocked down 11 free-throw attempts. She also added six rebounds, six assists, and six steals.

In the previous matchup vs. William Penn on Wednesday, McElroy led the offense with 28 total points. In addition, she tallied eight rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a blocked shot.

So far this season, McElroy is averaging a team-leading 22.5 points/game while shooting 42.4-percent from the floor. She is also averaging seven rebounds/game, good enough for second on the team.

The No. 7 Eagles are out to a 9-3 start overall and are set to host Haskell Indian Nations University Saturday, Dec. 18 at 2:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
