Kansas City, Mo. - The 2021-22 Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams and individual awards were full of CMU Eagles, led by senior guard Arleighshya McElroy, who was tabbed as the Heart Player and Newcomer of the Year.
McElroy becomes the second Eagle in the last three years to earn Heart Player of the Year honors, as Mercedes Jefflor was recognized in 2020.
In addition, she lands on the Heart All-Conference First Team for her efforts in 2021-22
The native of Dallas, Texas led the Eagles in scoring with 20.7 points/game, including 12 games over 20 points. She also averaged 4.2 assists and 2.1 steals/game. McElroy had a career night against Missouri Valley College back on Dec. 11, dropping a career-high 43 points.
She has also proven to be one of Central's best sharpshooters, knocking down 34.2-percent of her three-point attempts. McElroy has also earned Heart Player of the Week honors on two different occassions.
Junior forward Daryna Bachkarova joins McElroy on the Heart All-Conference First Team, landing on the first team for the second-straight season. Bachkarova has appeared and started in 24 games for the Eagles, averaging 14.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and nearly two steals/games.
Newcomer Eternati Willock was recognized as an All-Conference Second Team performer after coming into the lineup midway through the season. Willock also lands on the first-ever Heart Defensive team, averaging 9.3 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, 1.3 steals/game. In addition, the junior center has averaged 10.1 points/game in 15 appearances.
Leianya Massenat earned an Honorable Mention nod after averaging 10.7 points through 26 games played. The freshman from Trenton, N.J. tallied 16 double-digit scoring performances and shot 42.8-percent from the floor and nearly 80-percent from the free throw line during the regular season.
Leah Johnson was the final Eagle recognized, as the Ewing N.J. native joined Massenat with honorable mention honors. Johnson averaged 9.5 points, and 8.4 rebounds/game through 26 appearances.
