Sioux City, Iowa - The No. 4 seeded Central Methodist women's basketball program is set to take on defending NAIA National Champion and No. 1 seed Westmont College (Calif.) in the Round of 16 of the NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship Friday afternoon in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Eagles reached the Round of 16 after rolling through the Alexandria Bracket last week in Alexandria, La. Central defeated Freed-Hardeman, 79-61 in the first game of the Opening Round before cruising past Taladega (Ala.) 118-62. Central enters the final site with an overall record of 29-5 and a runner-up finish in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament.
Westmont won the Santa Barbara Bracket with victories over Westcliff, and University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. The defending national champions head to the final site with a 27-4 overall mark and a runner-up finish in the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament.
The winner of Friday's matchup will face the winner of No. 3 seeded Clarke and No. 2 seeded Marian (Ind.) Saturday night at 6:00 p.m.
