Kansas City, Mo. - For the first time in her career, Central Methodist sophomore forward Leah Johnson was named the Heart Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the conference office Monday.
The native of Ewing, N.J. averaged a double-double at 17.7 points and 15.7 rebounds/game in three Eagle wins last week.
In a 69-50 point win over Benedictine, Johnson matched her career high with 24 points in addition to a new career-best 21 rebounds, just four rebounds shy of tying the single-game program record.
She scored 20 points in two of the three contests, and against Peru State, Johnson recorded a career-high six blocks. She finished the week averaging 3.66 blocks/game.
Johnson and the No. 4 Eagles will next host Park University Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 5:30 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
