Fayette, Mo. - In a new era for Central Methodist Women's Basketball, the Eagles opened the 2024-25 campaign with an 83-67 victory over Haskell Indian Nations University Monday night inside Puckett Field House. 

It marks the first win for New Head Women's Basketball Coach Dustyn Yung. 

The Eagles came out hot, outscoring the Fighting Indians 24-14 in the first quarter. Haskell responded well in the second quarter, as they trimmed the defecit to 38-36 at the halftime break. 

But the Eagles would regroup at halftime, and came out with their best offensive output of the entire night. CMU dropped 26 third quarter points to stretch its lead to 64-46 entering the fourth. 

Central never looked back, as the Eagles came away with a 16 point victory. 

Sophomore guard Sa'Mya Stevens led the offensive attack with 16 points and 10 rebounds to secure a double double. She also added two assists. 

Fellow guard, Kayhla Adams tallied 14 points in just 19 minutes off the bench. Tristan Porter stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, six assists, four rebounds, and three steals. 

In 26 minutes off the bench, Mary Copeland notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. 

Senior Sharay Trotter was the final Eagle to land in double figures with 10 points, six rebounds, five steals, three blocks, and two assists. 

Central controlled the glass from the opening tipoff, outrebounding Haskell, 46-32. 

The Eagles remain at home to host Kansas Christian College Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
