Kansas City, Mo. - For the first time this fall season, Central Methodist sophomore golfer Mechelle Vermillion was named the Heart Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday. 

It marks the first conference weekly honor for Vermillion in her young career. 

The native of Wagoner, Oklahoma posted a second place standing at the Culver-Stockton College Fall Classic this past weekend. 

She fired rounds of 83 and 84 to finish with a two-round score of 167 out of a field of 42 golfers. 

Vermillion and the Eagles conclude fall action at the Heart of America Conference preview Tuesday at the Preserve in Moravia, Iowa.
