Eagles Fall to University of Missouri-St. Louis, 4-2

Eagles Fall to University of Missouri-St. Louis, 4-2

Fayette, Mo. - The No. 21 Central Methodist Men's Soccer program fell to NCAA Division II member, the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 4-2, Thursday night at Davis Field.

Central found themselves trailing early in the match, as back-to-back defensive mistakes gifted the Tritons a pair of goals in the opening five minutes of play. Less than six minutes later, Leonardo Chiulli found the back of the net with the assist from Koen Schimmel to cut the deficit in half.

Coming out of the halftime break trailing 2-1, the Eagles got an additional boost from Adrian Stokke who scored just 90 seconds into the second half to even the score at 2-2.

UMSL responded with goals in the 54th and 78th minute to secure the 4-2 victory.

Central finished the night firing off 22 shots, including six on goal. The Tritons tallied 13 shots with six coming on frame. Hayden Wood led the Eagles offense with five shots taken, followed by Liam Arthur with four and Matheus Storck three.

Niccolo Cabras played all 90 minutes in goal, picking up two saves.

The Eagles return to NAIA competition where they will host (RV) John Brown Saturday, Sept. 9 at 3:30 p.m. at Davis Field.
