Football's Davis, Plenge named Academic All-Americans

Football's Davis, Plenge named Academic All-Americans
TOWSON, Md. - Central Methodist University senior right tackle Cody Davis and senior strong safety Bryan Plenge have been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America� College Division Football second team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

2012 marks the second straight year the Eagles have multiple players named to the Academic All-America teams, and Central Methodist is the only Heart of America Athletic Conference institution to have two players selected as Academic All-Americans. Two of the three players from the conference to be honored attend college in Fayette.

The Capital One College Division Academic All-America� football team is comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.

Davis is one of six student-athletes who are repeat selections on the Capital One College Division Academic All-America� football team. The Sullivan, Mo., native is a Social Science Education major and sports a 3.87 GPA.

Plenge is a Physical Education major and carries a 3.43 GPA. The Kahoka, Mo., product was an All-HAAC third-team honoree and ranked 28th in the NAIA in interceptions per game (0.4) and 30th in interceptions (4). Plenge ranked second on the team with 64 tackles.
