St. Louis, Mo. - The Central Methodist Football team fell in its final road game of the year to Missouri Baptist, 21-9, Saturday afternoon in St. Louis, Missouri.
With the loss, Central drops to 2-8 and 1-4 in the Heart of America South Division, while MBU now stands at 3-6 and 2-3 in conference action.
The Spartans scored touchdowns in each of the first two quarters of play to take a 14-0 lead over CMU at the halftime break.
The Eagles got a lift from its special teams unit in the third quarter. Caleb Justice blocked a Spartan field goal attempt, which was recovered and returned by Treyvion Hurel Jr 70 yards for the score.
Following the missed extra point, Central trailed the Spartans 14-6 at the 11:17 mark of the third.
CMU chipped away at the lead later in the quarter, as Cristobal Salgado converted a 29 yard field goal attempt to pull the Eagles within five.
Central's defense held MBU out of the endzone until the final two minutes of the fourth, as the Spartans scored on a 33-yard touchdown to put the game out of reach.
The Eagles' generated only 132 yards of total offense and committed four turnovers in the loss. Missouri Baptist finished the evening with 314 yards of offense, with 267 yards coming through the air.
Hourel Jr. led the defense with 11 tackles, including four tackles for loss while scoring Central's lone touchdown of the game in the third quarter.
Both Jalen Moore and Ashton Fowler finished the evening with seven tackles, while Moore also tallied a pair of interceptions.
Caleb Justice recorded six tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss and the blocked field goal attempt in the third.
CMU will close the season with a home matchup against rival Missouri Valley College Saturday, Nov. 15, with kickoff slated for 12:00 p.m. The program will honors its 2025 senior class prior to kick off as part of senior day festivities.
