Rolla, Mo. - The Central Methodist Football program opened the 2025 campaign with a matchup against NCAA Division II Missouri S&T Saturday night in Rolla, Missouri.
Central fell to the Miners by a final score of 51-10.
Trailing 21-0 in the early stages of the second quarter, CMU's offense found a spark when quarterback Jordan Gile hit Zyon Slade across the middle for a 63 yard touchdown.
Central also got a boost from their special teams unit when Treyvion Hourel Jr. forced a fumble on a punt return, which was then recovered by Ashton Fowler inside the S&T 20.
The Eagles would ultimately get a field goal from 24 yards off the leg of Cristobal Salgado.
Central would trail 28-10 at the halftime break. The Miners scored 23 second half points while holding Central scoreless through the final 30 minutes of play.
Gile competed nine passes for 87 yards and one touchdown. Slade led the receiving core with three catches and 90 yards.
On the defensive side, Treyvion Hourel Jr. was all over the field, finishing the evening with nine tackles - including three tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and a forced fumble.
Caleb Justice and Cartavious Waters each recorded a sack, which included a strip sack for Justice in the early stages of the third quarter.
Central will host William Penn University for the home opener Saturday, Sept. 6 at 1:00 p.m. at Davis Field.
