FAYETTE, Mo. - Central Methodist wrapped up the fourth week of Spring Practice on Friday with a three-hour practice in full padsat Davis Field.
After focusing on open field tackling and the air attack for much of the spring, Friday's 10th practice saw the Eagle offense and defense working on the running game and rush defense in short-yardage and open field situations during 11-on-11 and position drills.
CoachJody Ford did not limit the contact during the session, allowing players to take each other to the ground and play to the whistle in team segments.
"I like the toughness that our team is starting to domonstrate," Ford said. "In this league, there are going to be games that come down to the fourth quarter and whoever is the tougher team, both physically and mentally. We need to be at the front of the pack if we want to be successful."Running back Elbie Fondagenerated two highlight plays for the Eagles' offense Friday during 11-on-11 drills. The Caruthersville, Mo., nativebroke loose for a 65-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage before later scampering to the house from 50 yards out.
The Eagles will be back on the field Tuesday in limited gear with four practices remaining before the Black and White Spring Game on Saturday, April 26, at 3 p.m. CT.
