Jody Ford, entering his fourth season as the head coach in 2015, will welcome more than 70 returnees for the first of 14 spring drills that will lead to the Black and White Spring Game on Saturday, April 25, at 3 p.m.
Practices are scheduled for every-other day during weekdays.
"I'm looking forward to getting back on the practice field. These guys have a great deal to accomplish this spring as we look to reach our full potential as a football team," Ford said.
If inclement weather is forecasted, Ford is expected to move practices into the turf room in the Philips-Robb Recreation Center which reopened six months ago after a six-month renovation.
"Weather shouldn't impact our ability to practice this March and April because of the indoor facility," Ford said. "I expect the schedule will help us maximize what we want to get done this spring."
Ford's third spring practice squad will feature more than 40 letterwinners and 12 total offensive and defensive starters from a year ago.
Eagle offensive players will learn a new scheme under first-year coordinator Popi Stevens, who joins Central Methodist after two seasons as the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Point (Ga.). Stevens spent the 2012 season as the Eagles' co-offensive coordinator, offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. The unit features two leading rushers, six of the top seven leading receivers and two starting linemen from last year.
Ford will coordinate the Eagle defense, which returns two of its top three tacklers from a year ago, including two starting defensive linemen, one linebacker and one cornerback.
Central Methodist opens the 2015 schedule at Peru State (Neb.) on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 6 p.m. Season tickets are on sale by emailing swells@centralmethodist.edu or calling 660-248-6346.
