Marshall, Mo. - The Central Methodist football team fell on the road to Missouri Valley College 38-6 Saturday afternoon at Gregg-Mitchell Field.
NOTES
• The Eagles dropped to 1-7 (0-2) for the year, as the Vikings are 4-4 (2-2) on the season.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Shadrach Alexander (SO/Port St. Lucie, Fla.) led Central Methodist in rushing with seven carries for 45 yards scoring the Eagles only touchdown of the game.
• Darrius Henton (JR/Stockton, Calif.) led the Eagles defense in tackles with eight solo tackles and four assisted.
• Jake Bridges took control of the Missouri Valley offense, throwing two touchdown passes and completing 17 of his 26 passes having a total of 155 yards passing.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the first quarter, Missouri Valley scored on a 59-yard punt return by Johnson with the extra point attempt good for an early 7-0 Vikings lead.
• With four minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter, Missouri Valley kept the ball on the ground scoring on a one-yard carry from Sanford making the lead 14-0.
• On the next Missouri Valley possession with two and a half minutes remaining, Bridges connected with Johnson on a 27-yard pass for a Vikings touchdown adding to the lead for a 21-0 scoreline.
• Before the first half ended, Missouri Valley added three points on the board with a 31-yard field goal. The Vikings led 24-0 at the half.
• In the 3rd quarter, both teams were held scoreless.
• Missouri Valley came out scoring first in the 4th quarter with Bridges finding Stanard on a quick cross route for a Vikings touchdown.
• Central Methodist answered with 3:14 remaining on the clock as Alexander split two Vikings linebackers on a seven-yard touchdown run adding six on the board. The Eagles trailed 31-6 with 3:10 remaining in the game.
• With 30 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter, Missouri Valley added a special team's score on a blocked punt that was recovered by Taylor for the final score of the game, 38-6.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Vikings led in passing and rushing with 181 yards in the air and 158 yards on the ground having a total of 339 yards in the game.
• The Eagles were held to 98 yards rushing and 120 yards in passing collecting a total of 218 yards in today's game.
UP NEXT
• The Eagles will return to action Saturday, October 28th, when they travel to No. 2 Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan. The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
