Football Falls at Home to MidAmerica Nazarene

FAYETTE, MO. - The Central Methodist men's football team fell to MidAmerica Nazarene 37-21, Saturday afternoon at Davis field.

NOTES

Central Methodist falls to 1-9 (0-4) as MidAmerica Nazarene goes 4-6 (1-3) on the season.

• Central Methodist led MidAmerica Nazarene in the first quarter 7-6.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Caleb Bedford (SR/Houston, Tex.) completed 22 of his 39 passes throwing for a total of 257 yards with three touchdown passes.
Que'Sean Sims led Central Methodist in receiving with three catches for 42 yards and one touchdown.

Marcus Whiteside (SR/Fontana, Calif.) and Damontay Allen (SO/Conway, Ark.) both added a touchdown on the board in the third and fourth quarter.

Quindon Brown took control of the Central Methodist defense having a total of 12 tackles with eight assisted and four solo.

• MidAmerica Nazarenes rushing attack was led by Dahmir Pross with 28 carries for 250 yards scoring two touchdowns.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• In the first drive of the game, MidAmerica's Cooper scored off a handoff up the middle for a one-yard touchdown run, the Pioneers extra point attempt was no good making the score 6-0.
• Central Methodist answered back with 5:31 remaining in the first quarter as Bedford found Allen on a 5-yard touchdown pass in the back of the end zone. Eagles took control of the lead after O'Connel extra point attempt was good.

• Entering the second quarter, MidAmerica was held to a field goal by Casillas his attempt was good putting the Pioneers on top 9-6.

• Before the second quarter ended, MidAmerica scored off a three-yard run by Cooper making that his second touchdown of the game. Pioneers led 16-7 going into halftime.

• Opening the third quarter, MidAmerica kept the ball on the ground scoring on a 37-yard run by Pross, Pioneers added seven to the board.

• Central Methodist answered back on their next series, as Bedford connected with Whiteside on a lob pass into the endzone making it a two score ball game 23-14.

• With four minutes remaining in the third quarter, MidAmerica's Cooper found Woody on a screen pass completing a 29-yard pass for a score. Pioneers led 30-14 going into the fourth quarter.

• MidAmerica scored one last time in the fourth quarter, on 10-yard carry by Pross making the score 37-14, after the extra point attempt was good.

• Central Methodist added one more touchdown to the board as Bedford found Sims in the middle of the end zone to make the final score of the game MidAmerica Nazarene 37 to Central Methodist 21.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• The Eagles led in passing with 257 yards, as the Pioneers were held to 111 yards.
• The Pioneers took control of the running game with 281 yards, holding the Eagles to 64 yards.
The Pioneers led in total offensive yards with 392 as the Eagles were allowed 321 yards.

• The Eagles will return to action, Saturday, November 11th, when they host Avila University for Senior Day at Davis Field to close out their 2017 season. The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
