2019 #HeartFB Coaches' Preseason Poll Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Heart of America Athletic Conference has announced the Heart Football Preseason Coaches' Poll after the 5th Annual Heart Summit on Monday. Central Methodist University was picked to finish sixth in the South Division this season, after posting a 4-6 record in 2018.

Head coach David Calloway will lead the Eagles in his fourth season at the helm. Last year he led the Eagles to impressive wins on Parent's Weekend, Hall of Fame Game, and Homecoming. Central also posted a victory over Missouri Valley in the Heart Game of the Week, which was shown on ESPN3.

Benedictine, last year's North Division Champion, will compete on the other side of the conference line this season. The Ravens received five of six first place votes (teams do not vote for themselves) and a maximum of 50 points. Evangel received the final first place vote, but tied with Baker in a pick to finish second with 44 points each. MidAmerica Nazarene, Missouri Valley, and Central Methodist rounded out the South Division Poll.

Grand View also received five first place votes and received a maximum of 50 points as the Vikings appeared atop the six-team North Division. William Penn claimed a first place tally and was picked second with 45 points, sitting four points ahead of Culver-Stockton with 41. Peru State, Graceland, and Clarke rounded out the teams in the North Division Poll.

Central Methodist will open play on August 31st in the Heart Game of the Week on the road at Clarke University. The game, which will be aired on ESPN3, will mark a historic program-opening debut for the Pride. The Eagles will open divisional play on Homecoming Weekend (October 19) at home against Missouri Valley College. A full schedule for the 2019 season can be found here.
