Football falls to Grand View in Saturday contest

Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist University football team fell to Grand View University by a score of 57-7 Saturday afternoon at Davis Field. 

The Eagles fall to 2-2 overall, while the Vikings keep their record at a perfect 3-0. 

Grand View jumped out in front early, with 22 first-quarter points, including two touchdowns, two field goals, and a safety. The Vikings added 14 more points in the second quarter to take a 36-0 lead over CMU heading into halftime. Central Methodist opened up the second half with a seven-play, 75-yard scoring drive. The Eagles made their way into Grand View territory with a 48-yard reception from Jalen Brown to Katavious Taylor, bringing the offense to the Viking three-yard line. Brown found Taylor one play later on a three-yard touchdown reception. 

The Vikings added 14 more points in the third quarter and seven in the fourth, completing the 57-7 victory over Central Methodist. 

London Chambers led the defense with 14 total tackles. Anthony Hernandez also reached double-digit tackles with 11, while Lane Moody added eight including a forced fumble. In addition, Mar'quess Daniels recorded a sack, a forced fumble, and two tackles for loss. 

Taylor led the receiving core with 54 yards on four receptions while Brown threw for 105 passing yards and a touchdown. 

The Eagles return to road action with a matchup against Missouri Valley College, Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1:00 p.m. in Marshall, Mo. Central Methodist will look for its third-straight victory over MVC.
