Kansas City, Mo. - For the first time this season, redshirt freshman Ashton Fowler was named the Heart of America Football Defensive Player of the Week, which was announced by the conference office on Monday.
The defensive back from Tulsa, Oklahoma, played a key role in Central's 38-20 road win over St. Ambrose on Sept. 13.
Fowler finished the day with four tackles and made two interceptions, including one that set up the Eagles' first touchdown of the game.
Fowler and the Eagles continue cross-division play against Peru State College Saturday, Sept. 20, at 1:00 p.m. at Davis Field as part of Family Weekend festivities.
