Kansas City, Mo. - For the second time this season, a member of the Central Methodist Football program earned Heart of America Player of the Week honors.
Redshirt freshman Derrick Kelley Jr., was recognized this as the Heart Football Defensive Player of the Week after a strong defensive performance against William Woods this past Saturday.
He follows Ashton Fowler, who two weeks ago earned the same honor.
The native of Houston, Texas recorded a pair of interceptions in the Eagles' 52-24 win over the Owls. His second and final interception was an 88-yard pick six that served as Central's final score in the route.
Kelley Jr. and the Eagles are 1-0 in Heart South Division play. They will next travel to No. 23 MidAmerica Nazarene Universtiy Saturday, Oct. 4 for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff against the Pioneers.
