Kansas City, Mo. - Eight members of the Central Methodist Football program earned Heart of America South Division All-Conference honors, as announced by the Heart office earlier this week.
It is the most all-conference selections for the Eagles since they earned 13 during the 2021 campaign.
Treyvion Hourel Jr. was named the First Team Defense while both Dawan Lomax and Quentin Jackson were named to the Second Team Offense.
Caleb Justice and Ashton Fowler each earned spots on the Second Team Defense, while Zyon Slade, Jonathin Castillo, and Clint Chamley earned Honorable Mention nods.
Hourel Jr., a transfer linebacker, was a welcome addition for the Eagles' defense, appearing in all 11 games. He finished the year with a team leading 114 total tackles, including 16.5 tackles for loss, and one sack.
The native of Andalusia, Alabama also recorded two forced fumbles and a pair of interceptions.
In the season opener against NCAA Division II Missouri S&T, he registered nine tackles - including three tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and a forced fumble. As a result he was named the NAIAFBall National Defensive Player of the Week.
Lomax was named to the Second Team for the second straight year. The junior from Boonville, Missouri played in all 11 games for the Eagles, carrying the ball 139 times for 621 total yards for an average of 4.5 yards/rush.
He reached the endzone five times on the ground and also scored twice through the air.
Jackson, a redshirt freshman from East St. Louis, Illinois, served as a key piece to the Eagles' offensive line. He helped anchor a rushing attack that averaged more than 140 yards/game on the ground and 11 total touchdowns.
Justice was recognized as an all-conference selection for the first time in his career on the defensive line. The native of Jefferson City, Missouri had the best season of his career, finishing the year with 28 tackles, including nine tackles for loss, and three quarterback sacks.
Additionally, Justice forced two fumbles and a fumble recovery. He also blocked field goal attempts against Missouri Baptist (11/8) and Missouri Valley (11/15). For his efforts, he was named the Heart Special Teams Player of the Week in consecutive weeks.
Fowler joined Justice on the Second Team Defense. He recorded statistics in eight games which included 37 tackles, three interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
The Tulsa, Oklahoma native also played a key role in Central's 38-20 road win over St. Ambrose on Sept. 13, finishing the day with four tackles and two interceptions. As a result, he earned Heart Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Slade played in all 11 games for the Eagles as both a wide receiver and return specialist. He caught 24 passes for 422 total yards and four receiving touchdowns. Additionally, Slade recorded 260 total return yards on 15 kickoff returns.
Castillo totaled 2,598 punting yards, averaging 34.6 yards/punt in addition to 22 punts landing inside the 20. Two of his punts resulted in touchbacks and he only had one punt blocked for the duration of the season.
Chamley rounds out the all-conference selections for CMU, earning an honorable mention nod along with Slade and Castillo. Chamley also served as a welcome addition to the offensive line, helping to lead a ground attack that averaged 140 yards rushing/game and 11 touchdowns.
