Freshman Lindie Adair (Boonville, Mo.) scored three goals, including two headers to lead the Central Methodist University women's soccer team to a 6-1 win over NCAA Division III University of the Ozarks Sunday afternoon.
Adair scored her second career goal for the Lady Eagles with a header off back-to-back passes from freshmen Erin Winschel (St. Louis, Mo.) and Kelsey Vanzant (Troy, Mo.) in the 12th minute. Vanzant made it 2-0 with her second goal of the season off a corner kick by junior Shawn Beard (Moberly, Mo.) just more than a minute later.
In the second half, junior Kayla Leeser (St. Peters, Mo.) scored on a free kick in the 47th minute to give CMU a 3-0 lead. Adair scored her second goal of the game on a shot from the top of the box in the 50th minute off another assist from Vanzant. Five minutes later, Adair got the hat trick with a header off a corner kick from Leeser to extend the Lady Eagles' lead to 5-0. University of the Ozarks scored in the 63rd minute to make it 5-1. In the 84th minute, freshman Julie Friem (St. Charles, Mo.) notched her first collegiate goal off an assist from sophomore Erin Reilly (Godfrey, Ill.) to make the final score 6-1 in favor of Central Methodist.
The Lady Eagles dominated the game, out-shooting Ozarks 34-6. Sophomore Meredith Brick (Chillicothe, Mo.) played all 90 minutes in goal for CMU, recording three saves.
Central Methodist improved to 4-0 on the season, giving the Lady Eagles their best start in the past five years. CMU will try to remain unbeaten when the team returns to action against Iowa Wesleyan College in a 5 p.m. contest Wednesday at Davis Field.
