CMU Womens Soccer Players Earn Post-Season Honors

CMU Womens Soccer Players Earn Post-Season Honors
Three CMU women's soccer players have been selected to the CoSida/Capital One Academic All-District Soccer District 5 First Team, as announced recently by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Junior Shannon Dickerson (Moberly, Mo.), junior Kayla Leeser (St. Peters, Mo.) and sophomore Meredith Brick (Chillicothe, Mo.) were recognized as some of the nation's top student-athletes for their performances on the field and in the classroom.

Leeser, a junior forward, was one of four forwards selected to the First Team. Leeser is majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry, currently holding a 3.92 GPA.� She was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Offensive Player-of-the-Week Oct. 10. Leeser had 11 goals and seven assists on the season. She also led the team in shots and shots on goal, with 70 and 38. In 2011, Leeser was honored as an HAAC Scholar-Athlete as well as receiving the Excellence in Chemistry Award.

Dickerson, a junior defender, was one of four defenders selected to the Academic All-District First Team for the Collegiate District 5. Dickerson is an accounting major and currently holds a 3.75 grade-point average. She had one assist on the season and played in all nineteen games.

Brick, a sophomore goalkeeper, was the lone goalkeeper selected to the Academic All-District First Team for the Collegiate District of District 5. She holds a 3.39 GPA with a major in biology and a minor in education. Brick was named HAAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week Oct. 10 and Oct. 17.

Five CMU women's soccer players were also selected to the All-HAAC teams. Junior Elizabeth Gayer (Columbia, Mo.) was named to the First Team. Junior Shawn Beard (Moberly, Mo.) and freshman Lindie Adair (Boonville, Mo.) were named to the Second Team. Senior Lauren Robb (Columbia, Mo.) and junior Kayla Leeser (St. Peters, Mo.) were named to the Third Team.

Gayer, a junior defender, was selected to the All-HAAC First Team. She played a major role defensively this season, helping shut out seven teams and getting CMU to an overall record of 14-3-2 on the season.

Beard, a junior midfielder, was selected to the All-HAAC Team for the second year in a row. She had a total of six goals and nine assists on the season for Central Methodist. She also had 50 shots and 20 shots on goal. Beard now has 14 goals and 15 assists through her three collegiate seasons. �

Adair, a freshman forward, was named to the All-HAAC Second Team. �She ended the season with 10 goals, the second most on the team, and four assists. She had 46 shots and 22 shots on goal. Adair was named HAAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week on October 3.�

Robb, a senior midfielder, had three goals on the season. She also had 21 shots and seven shots on goal. Robb was previously named to the All-HAAC Third Team in 2008. She has served as the team captain the past two seasons.
