CMU loses NAIA Match of Week


ATCHISON, Kan. No. 18 Benedictine (Kan.) defeated Central Methodist, 3-0, on Saturday in the NAIA Women's Soccer Match of the Week at BC Soccer Complex.

Benedictine (13-1-0, 4-0) earned its ninth shutout of the season on Saturday night with the win over Central Methodist (8-3-3, 1-3).�

The Eagles came out firing offensively in the first 15 minutes, but shots by Jordie Retzlaff and Kelsey Vanzant were unable to find the back of the net.

Kara Hines netted the first goal of the match during the 31st minute when she scored off an assist from Jordan Francescon.�

Liz Enna scored an unassisted goal during the 51st minute to push Benedictine ahead 2-0 and then Fransescon added an unassisted goal during the 65th minute to close the game out for the Ravens.�

Ravens' keeper Ashley Holland earned her seventh shutout of the season, picking up three saves over 90 minutes of action. �

Retzlaff and Erin Winschel each had two shots on goal for the Eagles.

Eagles' goalkeeper Sam Savio made six saves in 90 minutes.

Central Methodist hosts William Woods (Mo.) on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. CT.
