Lady Eagles Soccer Announces 2016 Schedule

Lady Eagles Soccer Announces 2016 Schedule

2016 Schedule

Fayette, Mo. Central Methodist University head women's soccer coach Dan Schmidlin announced on Tuesday his teams' 2016 regular season schedule, which features 18 games total, nine games of which will be played at Davis Field.

"I think our schedule will be very challenging," said Schmidlin. "Our conference is one of the best in the country and our region is the deepest in the country."

Schmidlin continued to say, "As far as our non-conference opponents are concerned, I have a lot of respect for the coaches, as they are either good friends or people I see out recruiting all the time.Because of those two reasons, you know it will be a good game in the fall."

The Lady Eagles will open the 2016 season with six non-conference games, beginning on August 23rd at home against Harris-Stowe State University. Other non-conference opponents include Hannibal-LaGrange University, Tabor College, Lindenwood University Belleville, William Woods University, and the University of Saint Mary.

Central Methodist will open up Heart of America Athletic Conference play at home on September 17th against Graceland University. Just in time for the 2016-17 season, The Heart welcomes two new members to the conference, Clarke University and Mount Mercy University.

"Clarke and Mount Mercy will definitely add to the depth of The Heart," added Schmidlin. "I believe The Heart is one of the best conferences in the country year in and year out."

Central Methodist is coming off of a very successful 2015 season, which saw the Lady Eagles finish 11-6-3; which was good enough for a fourth place finish. Central Methodist also advanced to The Heart semifinals in the postseason tournament, after defeating Culver-Stockton at home in a quarterfinal match.

The Lady Eagles lost five seniors from last year's squad, but head coach Dan Schmidlin still has a lot of his team returning from this coming season.

"I like how our 2016 roster is shaping up," said Schmidlin. "We lost some good seniors and we have some very good players returning.I truly believe every year is different regardless of who you lost or who is coming back. Each year you have a new team that will always bring new challenges, and that is the fun part about coaching."
