Marshall, Mo. – The Central Methodist University women's soccer team played a hard 110 minutes on the road Saturday, against a receiving votes Missouri Valley College squad. In the end, the two teams finished in a 0-0 tie after two overtime periods.
"The girls played super hard and left it all on the field tonight," said CMU head women's soccer coach Dan Schmidlin. "We had our chances, but we will take the point and move on after this conference match against a tough opponent."
With the draw, the Eagles move to 8-0-1 overall, and 2-0-1 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play. Missouri Valley College; whom are currently receiving votes in the latest NAIA Women's Soccer Top 25 Coaches' Poll, move to 4-2-2 overall and 1-0-2 in The Heart.
In Saturday's scoreless contest, the Eagles were able to strike for just four shots; two of which were on goal. Missouri Valley struck for nine shots in the contest; five of which were on goal.
Freshman keeper Ashlynn Freeman (FR/Moberly, Mo.), finished with her seventh shutout in nine games this season. She currently sports an 8-0-1 record and has allowed just three goals to this point in the season.
CMU remains on the road for their next three matches. Next up, a meeting at Culver-Stockton College, this Wednesday at 5pm in Canton, Missouri. The men's match will immediately follow.
