Fayette, Mo. – The Central Methodist University women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss Wednesday evening, at the hands of 25th ranked MidAmerica Nazarene University at Davis Field.
The loss drops Central Methodist to 10-2-2 overall, and 4-2-2 in The Heart. CMU currently sits in sixth place in the conference. With the victory, the 25th ranked Pioneers improve to 7-2-4 overall and 5-1-1 in The Heart. MidAm currently sits in third place in the conference, one game back of Missouri Valley.
The Pioneers struck for a goal in the 7th minute Wednesday and never looked back. MNU's Steffi Krohn found Taryn McClendon for the games' first goal at 7:47 on the clock. The Pioneers 1-0 lead would hold going into halftime.
In the second half, MidAmerica Nazarene struck for two more goals in the 61st and 68th minutes, to claim the 3-0 victory.
MidAmerica Nazarene took 11 shots, with six winding up on goal. Central Methodist finished with 10 shots, four on goal. Freshman Judith Sainz (FR/Pamplona, Spain) led the Eagles with five shots on the evening.
CMU starting goalie Ashlynn Freeman (FR/Moberly, Mo.) played the first 67 minutes and allowed two goals on six shots, while recording three saves. She was lifted midway through the second half for Ronja Anderson. Anderson played the final 22 minutes and change, and allowed one goal on six shots faced.
Central hits the road this Saturday to face Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. Game time is set for 7pm.
